Phone users: while many of the strategies will also work for taking photos on your phone, you won't fully benefit unless you have a camera that has manual settings. A dslr or mirrorless camera is highly recommended for the greatest benefit.
Someone who wants to improve overnight. Photography is a life-long journey which is why this is structured as a monthly membership. There is always a new way to grow creatively with your photography even for someone who has been in the business for decades.
Someone who just wants answers. You will get answers but unless you actually pick your camera up, the information is useless. This membership is designed to give you the foundational information and then prompted activities for you to apply it with your own creative mark.
Monthly training on a technical or creative skill designed to advance your photography skills one step at a time. Lesson topics include composition, lighting, and posing.
Picking up your camera with purpose is the single most important thing you can do to advance your photography skills. Each month's themed training will contain easy to do challenges to help you practice the skills.
Each month will also include a live meeting with photography mentor Valerie Schoenfeld to answer any questions, provide feedback, and an editing demonstration of members' photos.
What kind of camera do I need?
A DSLR or mirrorless camera is recommended.
Do I need to know how to use my camera?
It is recommended to have a basic understanding of your camera and manual mode to benefit from Beyond the Snapshot. You should at minimum know how to take a photo and view it. If you are looking for step-by-step instructions on how to use manual mode, I would suggest taking my Conquer Your Camera course.
How long will you offer a founding member discount?
The current rate of $15/month is only available to the first thirty people.
Will the price increase at a future date if I join now?
No. As a thank you for being one of my founding members, I want to offer the $15/month price for everyone who keeps an active account.
What if I can't make the live meetings?
No worries! Not only are the meetings all recorded and available in the membership site, but you have the opportunity to submit questions beforehand as well as to submit photos to see me edit.
How long will I have access to the material?
You will have access to all past and current content for as long as you maintain your membership.
I'm not new to photography. Will this help me still?
Yes! We will deep dive into topics such as composition, lighting, and posing. Learning photography is a life-long journey Some information may not be new but what will be new is how you apply it. Often times, we hear about something but fail to actually try it out or explore it further. This is designed to take a skill and creatively explore it through challenges. Will I need to purchase additional software?
No. Included in the membership is an editing component. While I demonstrate using Lightroom Classic, a subscription based product, most of the editing information can be applied to the free Lightroom app or any other software you might use to edit photos. All that you need is your camera.
When you join Beyond the Snapshot, you will also be granted immediate access to Edit with Ease, Valerie's introductory course to Lightroom Classic.
Valerie has taught over 700 moms and grandma's. She was once a mom with a fancy camera and so overwhelmed by all that there is to learn and is here to break it down into manageable steps that will have the most impact.
